After graduating from music high school and grammar school in Celje, conductor SIMON DVORŠAK first graduated from the Faculty of Education in Maribor under the mentorship of prof. Jože Fürst, and then he enrolled at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana, where he graduated and received a summa cum laude diploma in the class of maestro Marko Letonja. He also studied with Georg Pehlivanian at the Academy in Spain. In July 2009, he was admitted at the Mountview Academy of Theater Arts in London, where he graduated with honors in musical theater.
Already during his studies he was a young assistant conductor of the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra. Until now, he has artistically conducted numerous orchestras throughout Slovenia. He regularly collaborates and gives concerts with the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, the SNG Maribor Orchestra, the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra, the orchestras of the Academy of Music, the Slovenian Army Orchestra and orchestras in Austria, Great Britain, Romania and Croatia. He has given a number of concerts for the Musical Youth of Slovenia and the Musical Youth of Ljubljana, and regularly collaborates with the Maribor Festival Orchestra. He devotes a lot of time to opera, operetta and musicals. As a conductor, he prepared and conducted numerous premieres and first performances of new compositions on various stages in Slovenia and abroad.
His repertoire includes works from the Baroque to the 21st century, both on the concert and theater stages. He has given a number of concerts and performances as a pianist accompanist, collaborating with renowned Slovenian and foreign instrumentalists and singers. He often records for the archive of Radio Slovenia and is a regular member of juries at music competitions and festivals. As a guest lecturer, he regularly leads master classes at Mountview Academy in London. He works as the artistic director of the Celje House of Culture. As a conductor and educator, he is dedicated to working with young people. As an associate professor, he lectures at the Academy of Music of the University of Ljubljana. He is the recipient of the bronze coat of arms of Celje for 25 years of work in culture.
